Welcome to my blog of Quality Software Testing
Who am I?
I’m Barbara, a Software Tester with over 10 years in the field. The idea of sharing my testing wisdom through a blog Quality Software Testing has been on my mind for a while, and now feels like the right time to kickstart it. My IT journey started back in high school when my brother tossed me a C programming book. I was always more into general science than humanities, spending Saturday afternoons working through exercises in that book.
Fast forward, I decided to delve deeper, studying Computer Science at Rzeszow University of Technology in Poland. An exciting twist came with the Erasmus Student exchange, allowing me to wrap up my studies at Coventry University for a Bachelor’s degree. Juggling both, I also managed to snag a Master’s in Computer Science from Rzeszow University.
Since then, work’s been a rollercoaster, collaborating with amazing colleagues, enthusiastic testers, and taking on challenging projects. I’m confident I’ll fondly revisit moments from various companies I’ve worked with, as the knowledge and experiences gathered are here to stay. Why I decided to start a blog about Quality Software Testing
I’ve made up my mind to kick off a blog because I reckon I’ve got a ton to share in the testing world. I want to spill the beans on my knowledge and experiences, especially because there are folks out there who don’t fully grasp the incredible work testers do nowadays. Testers often swoop in to save the day when a project hits a snag in production. It’s a remarkable job. If testing gets in on the action from the get-go, we catch loads of issues early, and that helps slash the project’s overall cost. Testers are no amateurs; they get into the nitty-gritty, playing the role of the actual user and addressing their needs.
What sets testers apart is their unique perspective compared to other team members – developers, product owners, project managers, you name it. I’m going to circle back to this topic in future posts because I’ve set myself a mission: to make sure testers and their work get the recognition they deserve. Sure, a lot has changed in the past few years, but from my own experience, whenever I joined a new team, I had to prove that testing isn’t just about making sure the most obvious scenario works. It’s about testing as many combinations as possible and walking in the end user’s shoes.
On the flip side, keeping crystal-clear communication with the rest of the team is vital. Communication is the linchpin for achieving the best results in a project. My brain’s buzzing with a plethora of topics, and I’m stoked about the prospect of sharing them with you.
What am I going to write about
I’ll be diving into anything testing-related that I reckon would add value to the testing community. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, you should find something useful here. From dissecting the latest happenings in the testing realm and checking out new tools to giving the lowdown on books, magazines, podcasts, and other blogs – I’ve got it covered. Expect me to share my own insights, experiences, and maybe a few anecdotes along the way. Testing is a vast and fascinating field, so the list of topics I’ll be tackling is practically endless.
Why people should read my Quality Software Testing blog
Why should you bother reading this blog? Well, here’s the deal: I’ve been in the testing game for around 13 years, and I’ve got this gut feeling that I’ve got something worthwhile to share. Remember Aristotle’s wise words, “Quality is not an act, it is a habit”? That’s a mantra I live by, and I think it’s something we all should keep in mind. This blog isn’t just for seasoned testers; it’s for anyone who cares about quality in whatever they do. Quality isn’t always about splashing the cash; it’s about finding something solid and satisfying.
I want this blog to be a hub for testers at every career stage and for anyone passionate about creating quality products. Even if you’re not a tester, but you care about quality in projects, you’re welcome here. My goal is to enrich the content with facts, articles, and thoughts that motivate and inspire. Testers will get the lowdown on my experiences and knowledge. Those who don’t think testing is necessary might just change their minds, and those who already value our work will understand our mindset and dedication to quality.
This blog isn’t just about testing at work; it’s about embracing quality in our personal lives too. Quality should be deliberate, solid, and, most importantly, something that makes us happy. As I embark on this blogging adventure, I hope it turns out to be an exciting journey for both me and you, the readers. I’m always up for a chat and ready to respond to private messages. So, let the adventure begin!
